How to Be Cool

Pandora served me an ad that suggests I’m probably singing along to the songs at the grocery story (I’m not). Then it told me I should start listening to such-and-such station with those songs and more.

“You might even discover something your kids think is cool,” it said.

Question: Is Pandora also telling younger listeners how to find songs their parents think are cool? Or does the enjoy-someone-else’s-“cool” advice go only one way?

Here’s an idea: What if advertisers stopped pushing the idea that we should all desire things associated with youth?

That would actually be cool.
