This week’s theme for the #FlipTheScript campaign is Entrepreneurship at Any Age, and it turns out that Hollywood has recently visited this idea, too—in Nonnas, a true story about a guy who started a restaurant in his 50s.
What’s more interesting than his age, though, is that he hires grandmothers as chefs—and that, in the movie, ageism is completely off the menu.
Yes, a couple of “but I’m old” remarks crop up, but only so they can be deliberately nipped in the bud.
In a world where ageist jokes abound, Nonnas’ scriptwriter Liz Maccie deserves two thumbs up.
